Focus Group CD
Departments throughout the university recognize the importance of assessing how well their programs and services meet the needs of the Rutgers community. To assist in those efforts, and in support of staff professional development, the Center for Organizational Development and Leadership (ODL) has developed an easy-to-use CD on facilitating focus groups. The CD includes an overview of ODL's suggested approach to focus groups, and a guide for developing focus group facilitation capability within individual departments. The "Workshop and Instructor's Notes" provide guidance in the training of facilitators and content co-facilitators. The "Participant Guide" is designed as a pre-workshop overview and post-training reference guide. While ODL will continue to design and conduct custom focus groups in response to departmental requests, these materials are meant for those who wish to assume the task of developing internal expertise in focus group design and facilitation on their own, using a proven model. For those who prefer assistance with facilitation training, ODL conducts individual department sessions as well.
